Coffee & Catholicism

"Always be ready to give an answer!" 1 Peter 3:15

Time: 10:15-11:15

Place: Floor 4, Room 407 (note: babysitting available in Room 409)

Adult education is an essential part of any parish to help Christian adults to grow in their knowledge and love of the Catholic faith and thereby be equipped to give reasoned answers for the hope they have in Christ. This catechism class for adults meets over an informal cup of coffee and explores the inexhaustible riches of our Catholic faith. All adults are warmly welcomed to join the class, share and learn new things about the faith.

Legion of Mary

What is it?

The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over 3 million active members in almost every country of the world. It has been approved by the last six popes, and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members. There are presently over 2,000 active members and 5,000 auxiliary members in the Hong Kong SAR.

How does it work?

Members meet once a week for prayer, planning and discussion in a family setting. They do two hours of definite work each week in pairs.

What does it do?

Members become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced programme of prayer and service. Works include door-to-door evangelization, parishioner visitation, prison ministry, visitation of the sick or aged, crowd contact, religious education, visiting the newly baptized, Pilgrim Virgin Statue rotations, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the Parish community. Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director named by the Priest. The Legion is, in essence, an extension of the heart and hands of the Priest.

Who can belong?

The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholics who:

  • Faithfully practise their religion.

  • Are animated by the desire to participate in the Church’s apostolate through membership in the Legion.

  • Are prepared to fulfill each and every duty.

How do I start?

The first step is to be a guest at a meeting of the Legion of Mary. Guests are always welcome and can go on one of the work assignments with an experienced member if they choose.

RCIA

(Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil,  thousands of are baptized into the Catholic Church in the world. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

For those adults wishing to have the sacrament of Confirmation and/or would like to join the Catholic Church, our parish celebrates this sacrament within the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Program (RCIA).
